Along with labrador tea, wintergreens are the only representatives of the Ericaceae family. Its origin (Nepal) is the only thing that differentiates fragrant wintergreen from wintergreen (which comes from China), as they have the same properties. The Indigenous peoples of the Americas used it for its myriad properties. Its scent evokes balms used by athletes.
